Polymarket $21 Billion Valuation Takes Shape as Donald Trump Jr.’s Capital Firm Leads $1 Billion Funding Round

Polymarket Valuation Now $21 Billion

The valuation trajectory of leading prediction market platforms is ever upward.

1789 Capital is leading a $1 billion funding round that values Polymarket at $21 billion after accounting for the new cash. The venture firm, where Donald Trump Jr. is a partner, is contributing about $300 million on top of a prior stake of roughly $200 million. That combined position would approach $500 million and rank among the company’s largest individual holdings.

Spokeswoman Alexa Henning confirmed the size of the raise and the post-money figure on Monday without naming the other investors in the syndicate. The $21 billion mark sits 40% above the April valuation of about $15 billion.

1789 Capital’s first disclosed check arrived in 2025 as a strategic investment. Donald Trump Jr. joined the advisory board at the same time. CEO Shayne Coplan marked that earlier deal on X, saying the firm was “assembling the Avengers” ahead of a U.S. return after being offshored by U.S. regulators.

Intercontinental Exchange remains the largest publicly identified backer after adding $600 million this year, lifting its total to near $1.6 billion. D.E. Shaw and G Squared entered in the April round that set the prior $15 billion baseline. Against that cap table, 1789 Capital’s new lead role deepens a relationship that began when U.S. access was still in flux.

Forbes described the latest cash as making 1789 Capital one of Polymarket’s heaviest investors.

Deal work at 1789 Capital covers origination, capital raising, and strategy. Closing is expected in weeks rather than months, according to people familiar with the process. Until term sheets are fully signed, the public record still rests on Henning’s confirmation and those first-wave reports.

What the Valuation Jump Means Besides Kalshi

Kalshi last raised at $22 billion in May and has since been discussed near $40 billion. The new Polymarket print therefore narrows a gap that had opened between the two largest platforms.

Private prices do not flicker like live contracts, yet traders still read them as a scoreboard. Volume in sports and political markets stayed heavy through the summer, giving incoming investors a growth track record to underwrite. A completed raise at this level keeps the two names paired in private-market chatter. These are the two sector leaders most decidedly.

ICE’s existing stake also means any later liquidity event would involve a major exchange operator alongside 1789 Capital. That mix of market-infrastructure money and politically connected venture capital is unusual even in a year of oversized fundraising checks.

Polymarket Private Valuation Path to $21 Billion

Trump Jr. is not a distant limited partner. He sits on Polymarket’s advisory board and is a partner at 1789 Capital, which writes the lead check for this funding round. He also advises Kalshi and received shares there valued at more than $300,000 in 2025, which are now worth millions. Neither company has spelled out how those connections with both firms are walled off.

President Trump has said these platforms would “thrive” under his administration and has praised CFTC Chair Michael Selig. The CFTC has sued states that seek to treat sports event contracts as gambling and take regulatory control of their operations or ban them altogether. Those cases form the backdrop against which the $21 billion figure is being set. The capital markets seem to be largely ignoring legal case conflicts or any consequential outcomes of their ultimate disposition.

House Judiciary Committee Democrats have asked 1789 Capital for records on how portfolio companies fared after regulatory decisions shifted. Ranking Member Jamie Raskin’s letter landed in the same news cycle as the funding reports. 1789 Capital has not issued a detailed public reply.

Omeed Malik, a co-founder of 1789 Capital, has called Polymarket a bet on transparent pricing rather than a media narrative. That pitch has not changed, even as the firm’s disclosed exposure has grown from an early “double-digit millions” mention to a half-billion-dollar cumulative position. These investment firms see a bright future for prediction markets.

What Traders Are Watching After the $21 Billion Mark

Polymarket itself has stayed quiet beyond Henning’s remarks. In a market that reprices on headlines as fast as it reprices contracts, that silence usually lasts only until the round is formally closed. Then expect it to be mentioned as a positive sign of a healthily growing company in a healthily growing sector.

However, state lawsuits keep on rolling in. Fresh capital can fund market integrity and compliance tools, product innovation, and distribution, yet it does not settle preemption fights on its own. That tension is now part of the investment story, not a footnote to it.

For the moment, the public numbers are still the ones Henning confirmed: $1 billion in new capital and a $21 billion post-money valuation. The business skies look rosy for Polymarket.
