PolyPunter aims to publish accurate news and analysis about prediction markets, regulation, and related events. When we get something wrong, we correct it.
This page explains how to request a correction and how we handle errors, updates, and clarifications. Last updated: September 1, 2026.
Our commitment
Accuracy matters more than speed after publication. If a story contains a factual error, we investigate and, when warranted, fix the article and note the change.
This policy applies to news, analysis, explainers, headlines, captions, charts, and market snapshots published on PolyPunter.com. It works together with our Editorial Policy.
What we correct
We correct substantive errors of fact, including:
- Wrong names, titles, dates, or locations.
- Incorrect market prices, volumes, odds, or contract titles.
- Misstated legal outcomes, CFTC actions, court rulings, or platform rules.
- Misattributed quotes or statements.
- Headlines or social posts that materially overstate or contradict the article.
- Images, charts, or captions that identify the wrong market, person, or event.
Minor spelling, punctuation, or formatting issues may be fixed without a public note when they do not change meaning.
How corrections appear
When a factual error is material, we:
- Edit the article so the corrected information is clear in the body of the story.
- Add a correction or editor’s note stating what was wrong and what was changed.
- Update the headline if the original headline was misleading.
Correction notes are placed near the top or bottom of the article and include the date of the change. We do not silently rewrite a story to hide a significant error.
If an article is withdrawn because it cannot be reliably repaired, we replace it with an explanation rather than leaving a blank URL where practical.
Updates vs. corrections
Prediction-market stories often develop after publication. New prices, filings, or official statements are updates, not corrections, if the original reporting was accurate at the time.
Material updates receive an update line with the date. A correction is used when the original published statement was wrong.
Market snapshots are point-in-time. A later move in odds or volume is not an error unless we misreported the figure as of the stated time.
How to request a correction
Contact us via email at PolyPunter@gmail.com and include “Correction” in the subject line. You may also email the address listed on that page if one is provided.
Anyone may request a correction: readers, sources, companies, platforms, attorneys, and public officials. A request does not guarantee a change.
What to include
Helpful requests include:
- The full article URL.
- The passage, headline, figure, or caption you believe is wrong.
- What you believe the correct information is.
- Supporting evidence, such as a filing, an official statement, a timestamped market page, or a court document.
- Your name and a way to reach you if we need to follow up.
We can review anonymous requests, but including named contact details speeds up verification.
How we review requests
An editor reviews the article against primary sources. We may contact the original writer, check platform data, and compare official records.
If we confirm an error, we correct the article as described above. If we do not change the article, we may still reply when contact details are provided.
We aim to review correction requests promptly. Complex legal or data questions can take longer.
Disputes about tone, emphasis, or a labeled opinion generally are not treated as factual corrections unless the piece states a false fact.
What is not a correction
We generally will not treat the following as corrections:
- Disagreement with an analysis or opinion that is clearly labeled as such.
- Requests to remove accurate but unflattering reporting.
- Changes in market prices after a timestamped snapshot.
- Differences in interpretation of ambiguous platform rules, unless we misstated the published rule text.
- Typos that do not alter meaning, which may be fixed without a note.
We also will not unpublish accurate reporting solely because a subject dislikes it. Takedown requests that allege legal issues will be reviewed separately.
