World XYZ Opens Standalone Solana Prediction Market to 1 Million Waitlisted Traders

World opened its public site at world.xyz on September 9, 2026, and invited more than 1 million waitlisted traders onto a standalone Solana venue that had lived inside Phantom since July. The first hours tested that shift. Traffic hit hard enough that the new site briefly went offline.

World says traders have created more than 150,000 markets since the Phantom debut, spanning sports, crypto, politics, finance, economics, and culture. The standalone board opened with every NFL regular-season game, seven soccer leagues, Formula 1, 2026 midterm races, and the next Federal Reserve decision. Chainlink now supplies the data and automated resolution, so payouts don’t wait on a human panel.

The product pitch is tight: a non-custodial protocol, positions held as wallet tokens, settlement in Phantom’s CASH stablecoin, and no brokerage account. The team stayed anonymous for years under a “Trade Everything” tagline, so the public site is also the first clean look at a product many traders only knew as a wallet tab.

World XYZ Path to the Standalone Site

World XYZ standalone launch and live contract slate

Until September 9, World reached traders through Phantom’s prediction market tab. The new site changes that path. Waitlisted accounts can now reach contracts without treating the wallet as the only door, while Phantom remains the fastest on-ramp for people already holding Solana assets.

Sports leads the live list. NFL games sit beside soccer and Formula 1. Politics contracts cover the midterms. Finance contracts track the next rate decision, and crypto contracts follow major-asset price outcomes. In standard prediction market mechanics, each market is a binary yes/no share priced between $0 and $1, with a winning share paying $1 at resolution.

World has already named the next categories: equity up/down contracts, then gold, silver, oil, natural gas, and computing capacity, plus weather contracts once the matching data feeds exist. Those additions depend on Chainlink delivering the relevant readings onchain, which is why the oracle link is central to the product, not an add-on.

Inventory is not the same as lasting flow and the liquidity required to run a smooth market. World has not published a full first-day volume report for the standalone site. Early snapshots from the Phantom period put activity near $31 million across tens of thousands of unique traders.

World has identified speed after events end as its key selling point. Many onchain venues still use human committees or token-holder votes, and those reviews can leave winning shares idle. World has used Chainlink as its primary oracle layer from the start and bets traders will prefer an automatic, immediate close.

Chainlink Data Streams pushes verifiable readings onto Solana, including prices, match results, and macro data. The Chainlink Runtime Environment then runs settlement automatically. Once the data confirms an outcome, the payout transaction fires onchain, and the contract resolves.

Johann Eid, chief business officer at Chainlink Labs, tied the waitlist to demand for that model. He described the integration as a move away from human-driven legacy oracle solutions and said automated resolution can help these markets scale. In his telling, traders specifically seek out contracts that close as soon as the underlying event is known without issue. It’s a big part of their platform choice.

The advantage is clear. Capital can rotate into the next NFL card or midterm contract instead of sitting through a dispute window. If the oracle feed is the final word, there is also no appeal desk after the transaction lands. That is the bargain World is asking traders to accept. Final means final. We’ll see how that works out over the long term.

Non-custodial wallet positions and CASH settlement

World never holds customer funds. Traders open positions from a Solana wallet, orders route to onchain liquidity providers, and balances move only when a trader enters a market. Each position becomes an SPL token that traders can transfer or sell before resolution.

Winning shares redeem automatically in CASH, Phantom’s dollar-backed stablecoin. There is no separate claim step in an account dashboard. For traders already inside the wallet, the flow feels entirely familiar.

Ramzy Ali, head of DeFi at the Solana Foundation, called the design a network-level gain because liquidity stays on Solana. Earlier, Phantom’s prediction markets routed through Kalshi middleware. World replaced that path with liquidity that never leaves the chain.

That same choice raises hard questions. Support, disputes, and identity do not sit with a named exchange operator in the usual way. Traders can see contracts, oracles, and tokens. They still cannot see anything about the company and people running the exchange they trade on.

Phantom distribution, anonymity, and the next test

World did not start from zero. Phantom already serves more than 20 million active users across iOS, Android, and desktop, which helps explain both the 150,000-market count and the million-person waitlist. World moved from a tab on Phantom to its own standalone site, but it was already well into branded operations. The team’s identity only surfaced in late June through a legal disclosure on Phantom’s site, after years of cryptic posts.

Pedro Miranda, who leads consumer work at the Solana Foundation, has called this category one of the strongest uses of a high-performance chain. Fast blocks and low fees suit rapid event market trading and instant settlement. He described World as an attempt to meet traders where they already are, which still means Phantom as much as world.xyz.

World is taking a different operating path from licensed venues. Kalshi runs as a CFTC-regulated exchange. Polymarket has pursued U.S. licensing through acquisitions. World is an open protocol with no custodian and no central operator. That offers onchain transparency. It also leaves jurisdiction and access questions unanswered.

As with all newer entrants to the prediction market space, the first NFL Sunday and the November midterms will show whether waitlist interest becomes repeat volume or was more about hype and experimentation. Until those events clear, world.xyz is still a novelty and a stress test of Solana-native liquidity.
